Our passion is to create unique pieces that are mostly informed by the styles of rustic, country and shabby chic and that have an environmental sensitivity.
Many of our pieces are customisable, giving you the opportunity to create your own story through the objects that you choose to surround you.
Even our stock pieces, since they are individually made by hand, they carry unique elements and design features, that make them, truly unique.
At Defacto4 we are ‘new consumers’ like many of you.
As new consumer’s we seek something other than the cheap – and often nasty – mass produced, lifeless and charmless objects that are mindlessly generated with little attention paid to aesthetics and even less to the environment.
We seek something uniquely designed, thoughtfully crafted, made by hand, carefully arranged and assembled, sustainably and ethically produced – something that gives us a beautiful experience through our enjoyment and engagement with it.
But we want to pay reasonably for it too…
Defacto4 is in fact our resolution to what often seem like competing philosophies: finance on one side, environment and ethics on another, and design and aesthetics on a third.
What we did was that instead of compromising on any of our ideologies, we allowed one to inform the other. What resulted was a singular business model:
A manufacturing business with scalable capabilities that sells directly through an online store, and that has a unique approach to wood art and craftsmanship. That approach involves utilising mostly recycled and scrap wood products to create aesthetically pleasing stock items such as jewellery boxes and wall frames, as well as high concept furniture and design. Wood fabrication is not usually associated with environmental sustainability. We aim to reverse this and bring Defacto4 wood art and fabrication to the forefront of sustainability in design and manufacture.
We hope you love what you see and we hope to grow through what you can imagine!
